In Team Fortress 2 (TF2), the Pyro is known to rely on his close range flamethrower to deal damage to enemies. However, I want to show you a far more skillful Pyro playstyle, the Combo Pyro! This Pyro playstyle is more fun and potentially more rewarding than other basic Pyro playstyles in Team Fortress 2 (TF2). Many players think that Pyro can’t do anything other than run at enemies and flame them, but the combo Pyro playstyle relies on flaming enemies then switching to a secondary weapon to finish them off.
The combo Pyro relies on lighting an enemy on fire then finishing them off with a shotgun blast, a critical hit flare, or a deadly melee attack! The combo Pyro is one of the most skill-based ways to play the Pyro in Team Fortress 2 (TF2), and you’ll certainly gain some respect instead of just using W+M1! Using your reactions, gamesense, awareness, and aim to pull off fast and deadly combos is far more fun and rewarding than other primitive playstyles like W+M1 or using the Phlogistinator. Have you played Pyro in Team Fortress 2 and been called a W+M1 bot? Maybe you’ve died to an enemy Pyro and thought that he’s the most braindead TF2 class ever? Well, today I’m going to show you all about one of the most skill-based Pyro playstyles; the Combo Pyro! In this video we’ll look at the basics of how Combo Pyro works, some weapon choices and cool damage combos, and how you can master a super fun and skilled Pyro playstyle in Team Fortress 2!
In Team Fortress 2, some people only see Pyro as an unskilled class and incapable of anything but flaming enemies. However, I think that there’s 4 core Pyro playstyles. The Flank Pyro, which uses weapons like the Detonator, Powerjack, Thermal Thruster, and Backburner to drastically improve mobility, open up flank routes in TF2 maps, and deal massive damage to unsuspecting enemies. The Offensive Pyro, which uses the Dragon’s Fury, Phlogistinator, and Scorch Shot to consistently harass enemies and deal huge damage on the frontlines of a fight. The Defensive Pyro, or ‘Pybro’, which focuses on spychecking, defending teammates and engineer nests, and repelling enemies and projectiles. And the main topic of this video, the Combo Pyro, which relies on weapons like the Degreaser, Flare Gun, Shotguns, and Axtinguisher to maximise their burst damage and devastate enemies at close and mid range.
You can master any single playstyle or blend a couple of playstyles together, but I believe that the pinnacle of Pyro skill is a blend of all 4 playstyles, with the best Pyro players in the world using techniques and strategies from all the different playstyles! The best players know when to switch from defence to offence, when they can pull off a flank, and when to flame vs when to combo! However, let’s focus in on the Combo Pyro in this video, and really learn how to master it as it’s an extremely fun and surprisingly skill-based playstyle in Team Fortress 2!
