Terror Threat: "Al-Qaeda Is Rebuilding Capabilities" And How AI Is Fuelling Terrorist Attacks
Security expert Will Geddes tells TalkTV that terror organisation Al-Qaeda is rebuilding its capabilities, this comes as Home Secretary Suella Braverman warned that the risk from terrorism is “rising”.
He told Vanessa Feltz that Islamic State had also been looking to try and incentivise their supports in Europe and the UK to carry out attacks.
One of the alarming aspects highlighted in the discussion was the potential use of AI by terrorists. Braverman and experts pointed out a case where an intruder attempted to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II with the encouragement of an AI virtual girlfriend.
This example underscored the role of AI in providing support, confidence, and motivation to potential attackers. The government recognizes the need to address this issue and plans to hold an AI summit in the autumn with the participation of various countries.
