Grok, modeled after “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” is designed to answer nearly any question and can even advise on which questions to ask, according to xAI.
While the precise details of Grok’s integration into Tesla electric vehicles remain undisclosed, Musk anticipates that if successfully implemented on Tesla’s in-car computer, the company’s cars will boast leading AI computational power.
Looking ahead, as Tesla cars progress toward full autonomy, Grok could evolve into a driver companion, similar to Amazon Alexa in a home environment. Although these are speculative ideas, they open up new possibilities for the future of the automotive industry.
In the near future, Tesla owners may initiate interactions with Grok through voice commands. The AI will adapt to driver preferences, such as managing climate control, akin to the upcoming voice assistant in BMW’s Mini Cooper EV in 2024. Similar systems are planned for implementation in General Motors vehicles, albeit without a rebellious nature.
The company acknowledges that Grok is still in its early stages, having undergone only two months of training.
Access to Grok is available through a Premium+ subscription on the X platform.
