“GPT-4, and other advanced generative AI tech, has accelerated the ability of AI to perform knowledge work (including strategic and creative work) in ways we’re still exploring and trying to comprehend.
“And now we’re seeing rapid advancements, such as AutoGPT, that are giving AI agents the ability to complete complex tasks and actions with minimal human intervention.
“AI may not replace workers directly in the near term, but if companies can 5 – 10x the productivity of each knowledge worker, we certainly don’t need as many employees as we have in marketing, sales, service, finance, HR, operations, etc. (at least in for-profit companies driven by efficiency and profits).
“With no clear path to government oversight or regulation, and no unified efforts by businesses or educational systems to address the impact on workforces and students, we are potentially looking at millions of jobs being impacted in the next 1-2 years.”
