A team of researchers at the University of South Australia monitored footage of seven chimpanzees, which were filmed in captivity from a short distance at the Wolfgang Koehler Primate Research Centre in Germany.
Artificial intelligence technology tracked the cardiac signals from subtle movements in the ape’s face, which then produced a heart rate on a computer screen back in Adelaide.
