Don’t Make This AI SEO Mistake
It’s no secret that AI generated articles rank on Google, but there are some problems with this. One of the largest problems is a page that originally gets traffic and impressions, and then slowly but surely is de-indexed. Another potential problem is that they never get indexed.

This video is not specific for Shopify, but it does show you how to do a lot of stuff within Shopify to ensure your content is being indexed by Google. You can apply everything in this video to WordPress too, it’s just my website is built on Shopify and Shopify SEO happens to be important too.

This video will minimalize the risks of using AI-Generated content to rank on Google, and will help you get more traffic on Google from Organic sources in the future.

1. One of the main problems is that the formatting of ChatGPT is not always perfect. I found out recently that a lot of the pages I made quickly without fully focusing actually had some extremely bad SEO formatting issues, for example having multiple H1 headers. This is something that will KILL your SEO. Another example of this is sometimes ChatGPT will generate almost exactly the same sentences in the same article. This is a HUGE problem for SEO and is an obvious red flag for Google. Be extremely careful, check your content, don’t make the same mistakes I did.

2. Not having images/flowcharts/graphs/tables/lists etc. to break up walls of text – this is a huge problem for two reasons, the first is that Google likes a lot of unique content and will already rank you better if you’re doing this, but the second is that readers will read for longer, which will increase the ranking as well. YouTube and Google’s algorithms work in a similar way, so make sure your content is engaging.

3. Templated Content – Content that is really similar will be picked up by Google, this is probably what happened (as well as having multiple H1’s on my blogs) to the blogs that I tested by posting many articles in one day. They were too templated, and it’s obvious to Google that something is wrong here. This most likely falls under their spam content guidelines and is the reason that the content was indexed and then de-indexed
Content is just *bad* – Google is not going to rank ChatGPT3.5 content that has just been generated without real thought behind it. An example would be calculatevat.ie – This website was created by just finding keywords, and asking ChatGPT3.5 to write an article, then copying and pasting it directly into wordpress with just a featured image. With hardly any lists, or anything breaking up the walls of text. This type of content is probably the largest pitfall you can have for AI Generated content ranking on Google.

4. Not putting everything organized onto the website, not submitting to search console, not using rankmath or yoast, not understanding basic SEO concepts, not internally linking, not creating supporting social pages (these improve trust)

5. If you have a lot of pages that you have noticed aren’t indexed, then please do the following trick. Take all of the HTML and take it into either ChatGPT or preferably the OpenAI Playground (if you have access to the ChatGPT4 API) and paste the content into the system prompt. Then tell ChatGPT “I want you to rewrite this content with a huge degree of creativity, burstiness, and perplexity. The main goal here is to improve the ranking of this post. Do not change any of my embedded content, do not change any internal links, do not change anything except the written content. Act like a professional writer with a huge wealth of experience in the topic, and just make the content more rankable for google.”
